J.Scott Sullivan, past President/CEO of the Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL), was inducted into the Credit Union House’s Hall of Leaders during America’s Credit Unions’ Government Affairs Conference (GAC) on March 3, 2026. Sullivan is the eighth Nebraskan inducted into the Hall of Leaders since 2011. Previous inductees include Hal Allen (Volunteer) of University of Nebraska FCU; Ken Bradshaw of Liberty First CU; Jim Cada (Volunteer) of Peoples Choice FCU; Mary Johnson of Omaha Police FCU; Stan Fraser of Nebraska Energy FCU; Jerry Barnett of LincOne FCU; and Steve Edgerton of Centris FCU.

The Hall of Leaders recognizes the accomplishments of credit union leaders and honors them with a permanent presence at the Credit Union House in Washington D.C. Sullivan began his career in the credit union system in 1989 when he was hired at the NCUL to serve as its first Government Affairs Officer. He was promoted to President/CEO in 2000 and served in the role until his retirement on June 30, 2025.

During his tenure at the NCUL, he elevated the advocacy efforts at both the state and federal levels of government including organizing NCUL’s participation in the largest credit union grassroots rally on Capitol Hill to pass H.R. 1151, the Credit Union Membership Access Act. Under his leadership as President/CEO, he increased the financial stability of the NCUL and its Services Corp, purchased a building that housed the League, assisted credit unions in navigating the financial crisis and the COVID 19 pandemic. He created the Most Valuable Player program to increase non-dues revenues and sought partnerships with system partners to bring efficiencies and increase revenues for the League.

During his thirty-six years of service to the NCUL, Sullivan raised the awareness of credit unions with lawmakers and political candidates at all levels of government. He served on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union National Association, served on multiple committees including chairing CUNA/ACU’s State Issues Sub-Committee. He was recognized by the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) with its Eugene Farley Award which is the top award for League CEO’s. “Scott exuded passion for credit unions, elevated their presence in advocacy, and prioritized service to Nebraska’s credit unions,” said Brandon Luetkenhaus, President/CEO of the League. “We congratulate Scott on his induction into the Hall of Leaders and thank him for his many years of dedicated service to Nebraska’s credit unions and their League,” said Luetkenhaus.
