America’s Credit Unions hosted a call with credit union league advocates regarding a recent consumer survey conducted by pollster Brock, McCleary and Frederick and our unified plan to publicly release the data.

The polling shows that credit unions have higher trust among consumers than banks, and consumers are aligned with our positions on several issues such as allowing credit unions to both expand into more local communities and to provide more loans to small businesses. Key data point: 94% support allowing credit unions to expand into more communities and provide more loans to small businesses.

The Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) recently posted in Basecamp data reflecting that financial well-being in the U.S. has been generally decreasing or stagnant in recent years. Data from sources like the Federal Reserve and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) show that fewer adults report “doing okay” financially. While many have negative perceptions about the state of the economy and direction of the country, they positively rate credit unions for access to affordable financial services, community investment, and more.

NCUL along with leagues across the country are working collaboratively with ACU to strategically unveil this data with the public and policymakers in early 2026 when it will have the most impact. Leading up to GAC, we will work hand-in-hand with credit unions to amplify various components of the poll to emphasize: Credit unions are America’s trusted financial partners.
