This month, Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) members joined other credit union leaders from across the country meeting with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., as part of the 2025 Hike the Hill initiative. Hike the Hill is a key part of our efforts to build relationships and educate policymakers about the importance of credit unions in local communities.

Along with NCUL President/CEO Brandon Luetkenhaus, and new Chief Advocacy Officer, L. James Wright; the Nebraska delegation included representatives from Archer CU, Cobalt FCU, Family Focus FCU, Green State CU, MembersOwn CU, OneNebraska FCU, and Veridian CU.

NCUL members had the opportunity to engage with all five of the Nebraska congressional offices, and specifically with Rep. Don Bacon, Rep. Adrian Smith, and Senator Deb Fischer.

Credit unions thanked congressional lawmakers for their support for the credit union tax status, and shared priorities that include modernizing board meeting requirements, Bank Secrecy Act reporting thresholds, and more.

They also shared stories of changing members’ lives for the better, and how those advocacy priorities can help credit unions reach even more Americans.
