During August, Senators and Representatives return home during district work periods to visit with constituents and learn more about important issues facing their states and districts.
With members of Congress and their staff spending time in their districts, these opportunities outside the legislative session allow credit unions to strengthen relationships with policymakers and continue advancing priorities that support the credit union movement.
Credit union leaders and your Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) staff engaged in two opportunities with important credit union “champions” in Congress: Rep. Mike Flood and the key legislative staff for Senator Deb Fischer.
NCUL encourages credit unions to stay engaged with advocacy efforts throughout the recess 
and to share opportunities for elected officials to visit their institutions and see firsthand how credit unions improve the financial well-being of members and communities.
