Your Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) got a great start to the new year in January with two events, Jam the Unicam (JTU26) and the State Lawmaker Reception. Jam the Unicam is NCUL’s legislative and regulatory conference designed to equip credit union leaders with the knowledge, tools and strategies to navigate the evolving political and regulatory landscape at both the state and federal level.
Dinner with Regulators:
The night before Jam the Unicam, Credit Union leaders had the opportunity to sit down with Julie Cayse, Western Regional Director for the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and Kelly Lammers, Director of the Nebraska Department of Banking & Finance (NDBF), to share important insights on credit union priorities and discuss modern regulatory framework that allows for innovation and flexibility. Credit unions remain strong because they operate with a focus on stability, security, and responsible financial practices.

Jam Packed with Information:
The next morning credit union professionals and stakeholders from across the state of Nebraska heard a special address from Nebraska Chamber of Commerce President, Todd Bingham, along with remarks from League President & CEO Brandon Luetkenhaus. Bingham’s remarks encourage business leaders to work in solidarity to promote civility in public discourse to drive solutions focused on the greater good and fostering collaboration over division.
The rest of the day was filled with illuminating presentations on emerging industry risks, regulatory reform, cyber resilience, in addition to state and federal legislative updates.

Representation Matters:
A strong turnout filled the NCUL State Lawmaker reception, sponsored by Jackson Lewis, which brought
together credit union representatives and legislators. This event is a critical component of NCUL advocacy designed to foster one-on-one communication directly with policymakers on topics important to credit unions such as regulatory issues, economic impact, and pending legislation.
This year we were delighted to have young credit union professionals from LincOne FCU participate in the conversation.
