The Nebraska Credit Union League hosted its annual state advocacy conference, Jam the Unicam, in Lincoln on February 19th. The conference brought more than seventy (70) credit union professionals, volunteers, and business partners to the State\u2019s capital city.<\/p>\n
Centris Federal Credit Union sponsored the luncheon featuring special guest Bryan Slone, President\/CEO of the Nebraska Chamber. Mr. Sloan spoke to the challenges facing the state including what he considers the top challenge of attracting young families to the state.<\/p>\n
Nebraska Department of Banking & Finance Director Kelly Lammers provided a state regulatory update. Federal Reserve of Kansas City economist Nate Kauffman gave an economic update including what he is seeing in the agricultural sector. CU Collaborate\u2019s Ben Hering discussed how the CUSO can assist credit unions update their Project Zip Code data as well as assist with field of membership expansions and low-income designation. Political and legislative strategist Richard Gose headed a panel discussion on the credit union tax fight as well as the impact that the current Congress and Trump Administration could have on credit unions in 2025 and beyond. State Auditor Mike Foley stunned the audience with dozens of examples of fraud, waste, and abuse his office has discovered in government since taking office in 2023.\u00a0 State Senator George Dungan pledged his continued support to Nebraska\u2019s credit unions and thanked them for what they do to make the financial lives of so many Nebraskans better. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Following the conference, the League hosted a reception for attendees and State Senators at Billy\u2019s Restaurant.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
