Representing the Nebraska Credit Union League, the Crasher Program, and my credit union, Family Focus Federal Credit Union, amidst a sea of industry leaders and advocates was an honor I embraced with eagerness and dedication.

Throughout my time at the GAC, one principle resonated deeply with me: “say yes to everything.” This principle encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, confront challenges head-on and embrace the discomfort that comes with growth- from impromptu coffee meetings with fellow crashers to engaging dinners with Nebraska executives, I embraced each moment, recognizing the potential for meaningful connections and insights.

The principle of “Say Yest to Everything” combined nicely with another principle that I’ve often heard throughout my professional journey, that of “Being comfortable with being uncomfortable”. The space of being uncomfortable is where one grows and evolves- personally and professionally. I can proudly say that I exemplified this principle, whether it was through speaking in front of packed audiences, proudly carrying the Nebraska Flag, or advocating for members’ interests with legislative representatives and their staff. All events that were well outside my comfort zone, however, having challenged myself to do them- I am grateful for the growth and opportunities they provided.

I am also grateful to the GAC for the privilege of being surrounded by such strong advocates of the Credit Union movement. Individuals who could share their journey throughout the movement, as well as individuals and organizations who gave me the opportunity to explore educational opportunities with DE and DE International, No matter the topic, I was inspired by the commitment of every participant to the shared mission of empowering communities.

Every speaker shared anecdotes of personal transformation within the credit union sphere, reinforcing the notion that once embraced, this industry becomes a lifelong endeavor. Their stories left an intangible mark, highlighting the enduring significance of fostering innovation and driving change within our credit unions.

This transformative week shattered my preconceived barriers and bestowed upon me a renewed perspective on our industry’s vitality. As young professionals, we stand poised to carry forth the torch of progress, infused with a passion, drive, and unwavering commitment to our communities.

In essence, the GAC Crasher experience has ignited within me a profound sense of purpose and responsibility. It has reaffirmed my belief in the collective power of our youth to shape the future trajectory of credit unions, ensuring their enduring legacy of service and impact.

As I reflect on this extraordinary journey, I am reminded of the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Let us, as young professionals, heed this call, embarking on a path defined by innovation, advocacy, and unwavering dedication to the credit union movement.

Thank you to the Nebraska Credit Union League, Family Focus FCU, and to the Crasher Program for choosing me to represent Nebraska as its Crasher, and through that choice, for all of the opportunities it presented me. I look forward to elevating the Credit Union movement within Nebraska, and sharing what I’ve learned.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”3px|||||”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”default” custom_padding=”1px|||||”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.9.4″ _module_preset=”default”] It is with great enthusiasm and gratitude that I share with you my recent journey as a Crasher at the Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C.
