Credit union leaders from Nebraska went to Capitol Hill to visit with Nebraska\u2019s Congressional Delegation in mid-July. Credit union representatives included Frank Wilber, President\/CEO of Liberty First Credit Union representing District 1; Robin Larsen, President\/CEO of Cobalt FCU representing District 2; and Rex Minert, President\/CEO of Archer CU representing District 3.<\/p>\n

During their visits with lawmakers, credit union advocates urged their opposition to the Credit Card Competition Act (S. 18389\/H.R. 3381) which would reduce interchange fees on credit card transactions and place at risk card programs offered by credit unions. In addition to opposing the CCCA, credit union advocates urged Senator Fischer and Senator Ricketts to co-sponsor the Credit Union Board Modernization Act which was passed by a unanimous vote in the House of Representatives in January of this year. The Act would provide flexibility for credit union boards of directors in scheduling board meetings each year. Currently, credit union boards must meet monthly, but the bill would allow for no fewer than six meetings per year with at least one meeting per financial quarter.<\/p>\n

In addition to meeting with Nebraska\u2019s Congressional Delegation, credit union advocates met with NCUA Board Member Rodney Hood. During their visit, they discussed the NCUA\u2019s member expulsion rule, low-income designation, field of membership, fintech and digital assets, as well as examinations. \u00a0<\/p>\n
