{"id":4104,"date":"2022-05-13T15:05:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-13T20:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncultheaffiliate.com\/?p=4104"},"modified":"2022-05-13T15:05:00","modified_gmt":"2022-05-13T20:05:00","slug":"white-paper-cus-deliver-big-benefits-promote-financial-well-being-better-than-banks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncultheaffiliate.com\/?p=4104","title":{"rendered":"White paper: CUs deliver big benefits, promote financial well-being better than banks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px|||||&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px|||||&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.9.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Credit union members nationwide are more likely to say that credit unions improve their financial well-being compared to customers of other financial institutions, according to a white paper issued by CUNA this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[F]inancial institutions that prioritize the needs of members, employees, and community usually outperform those that pursue other approaches to creating value,\u201d the white paper states. \u201cAs not-for-profit, member-owned, and democratically controlled depository institutions, credit unions deliver big financial and nonfinancial benefits to their members.\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-4106 size-full alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ncultheaffiliate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/cuna.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"98\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The white paper, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/news.cuna.org\/articles\/120944-white-paper-credit-unions-better-at-promoting-financial-well-being-than-banks#:~:text=Also%20outperform%20on%20perceptions%20of%20diversity%2C%20ease%20of,%20%20-17%25%20%203%20more%20rows%20\"><em>Credit Unions Lead in Improving Well-being for All<\/em><\/a>,\u201d indicates that credit union members are also twice as likely to take advantage of financial counseling and education classes, engaging with their not-for-profit, member-owned credit union to build a more stable foundation for success.<\/p>\n<p>The white paper consists of a survey of 2,500 voters and finds that credit union members are more likely to say that their financial institution has a \u201cvery positive\u201d impact on their financial well-being than those who identified as bank-only customers (44% to 29%).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Respondents were also more likely to associate their credit union with serving a socio-economically diverse membership, granting easier access to low-cost loans, and having a more meaningful connection with their community.
