Nebraska credit union leaders gathered in Lincoln on February 2nd for the League\u2019s annual state government affairs\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 conference. Governor Pete Ricketts spoke during the luncheon touting his administration\u2019s top three \"\"priorities of tax relief, water conservation, and workforce housing. The\u00a0 League\u2019s Brandon Luetkenhaus and retained lobbyist Julia Plucker provided a state legislative update and covered key legislative bills being considered by the 107th Nebraska Legislature. NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle Hauptman presented via Zoom and answered questions from attendees on digital assets, CECL, virtual examinations, and extension of CLF. Nebraska News Channel\u2019s Joe Jordan provided insight into the upcoming elections in Nebraska including the race for Governor and the 1st and 2nd Congressional District races. CUNA\u2019s Jason Stverak provided a federal advocacy update featuring field of membership legislation, credit union charter modernization legislation, and regulatory topics. Platte Institute\u2019s Nicole Fox featured the organization\u2019s Blue Print Nebraska<\/em> plan to strengthen economic development across the state. University of Nebraska\u2019s Council on Economic Education\u2019s Dr. Jennifer Davidson provided an update on their work to increase financial literacy across the state and thank the League for their commitment to fund \u201cteaching the teachers\u201d in Nebraska so that they can have the tools necessary to teach financial literacy in their classrooms. Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance Director Kelly Lammers provided an update on the work of the Department with credit unions as well as their development of rules and regulation of the Nebraska Financial Innovation Act.<\/p>\n

Following the conference, the League hosted a reception honoring state senators.<\/p>\n
