Governor Pete Ricketts proclaimed October 21st as International Credit Union Day in Nebraska. In his proclamation, Governor Ricketts recognizes the cooperative spirit of credit unions in working towards the economic advancement of Nebraskans and united them for a stronger financial future. He further recognizes that the cooperative structure encourages savings among members to provide credit to those members that need it. Credit unions exist in one-hundred and eighteen counties serving over two-hundred and ninety-one credit union members. Nebraska\u2019s credit unions serve over 540,000 credit union members. In his proclamation, Governor Ricketts urges all Nebraskans to observe October 21st as International Credit Union Day in Nebraska.<\/p>\n

International Credit Union Day has been celebrated by credit unions worldwide since 1948 to celebrate the spirit of the credit union movement. This year\u2019s theme is \u201cBuilding financial health for a brighter tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
