know that the Democrats will retain control of the House of Representatives and it is likely that the Republicans will retain the Senate with several races still too close to call.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>No matter the result of the Presidential race we will likely have divided government.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In Nebraska, we are pleased with the results of the election as all three Congressmen and Senator Sasse were re-elected with the strong financial support of our credit union PAC.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Additionally, we were successful in a coordinated effort between CUNA, the League, and eight credit unions to support Congressman Bacon\u2019s re-election.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">U.S. Senate Race<\/span><span class=\"s1\">: Incumbent Senator Ben Sasse easily wins re-election with 68% of the vote for his second 6 year term in the United States Senate.\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Senator Sasse was supported by CULAC, the PAC of Credit Unions<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">U.S. House Races<\/span><span class=\"s1\">: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><b>CD 1<\/b> \u2013 Incumbent Jeff Fortenberry won re-election for another 2 year term but Kate Bolz gave him his most contested race since being elected in 2004.\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Congressman Fortenberry was supported by CULAC, the PAC of Credit Unions.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>CD 2<\/b> \u2013 In a rematch from 2016, Incumbent Don Bacon bests Kara Eastman by just over 5,000 votes.\u00a0 For the first time ever in Nebraska, CUNA, the League, and eight Omaha area credit unions coordinated an effort to support Congressman Bacon\u2019s re-election by directly communicating with credit union members.\u00a0 The effort targeted over 70,000 credit union members in the district through direct mail and online advertising.\u00a0 Credit unions made the difference in this race!\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Congressman Bacon was supported by CULAC, the PAC of Credit Unions<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>CD 3<\/b> \u2013 Incumbent Adrian Smith sailed easily to victory with nearly 80% of the vote.\u00a0 Congressman Smith serves on the very important tax writing Ways &amp; Means Committee in Congress.\u00a0 <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Congressman Smith was supported by CULAC, the PAC of Credit Unions<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">State Legislature Races<\/span><span class=\"s1\">: There were 25 races for state legislature with 6 being open seats.\u00a0 Two incumbents lost their re-election bids.\u00a0 Three former state senators were elected back into the Legislature (Flood, Pahls, &amp; Aguilar).\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 1 Southeast NE\u2013 Incumbent Julie Slama defeats Janet Palmtag 68-32<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 3 Bellevue \u2013 Incumbent Carol Blood leads by just 197 votes over Rick Holdcroft (RECOUNT POSSIBLE)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 5 Omaha\u2013 Incumbent Mike McDonnell defeats Gilbert Ayala 63-37<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 7 Omaha\u2013 Incumbent Tony Vargas defeats Jorge Sotolongo 78-22<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 9 Omaha\u2013 OPEN SEAT \u2013 John Cavanaugh defeats Marque Snow 54-46<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 11 Omaha\u2013 OPEN SEAT \u2013 Terrell McKinney defeats Fred Conley 64-36<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 13 Omaha\u2013 Incumbent Justin Wayne ran unopposed <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 15 Dodge County\u2013 Incumbent Lynne Walz defeats David Rogers OPEN SEAT \u2013 Mike Flood a former state senator and speaker of the Legislature runs unopposed to return to the body<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 21 Lincoln\u2013 Incumbent Mike Hilgers defeats Brodey Weber 55-45<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 23 Butler\/Saunders Counties\u2013 Incumbent Bruce Bostelman defeats Helen Raikes 62-38<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 25 Lincoln\u2013 Incumbent Suzanne Geistt defeats Stephany Pleasant 67-33<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">LD 27 Lincoln\u2013 Incumbent Anna Wishart
