The Nebraska Credit Union League (League) launched the Army of Volunteer Advocates (AVA) earlier this year to engage credit union volunteers interested in getting more involved in credit union advocacy efforts. Credit union volunteers can now enroll in the program.\u00a0 The AVA program is being implemented nationally by the various state leagues.\u00a0 \u201cCredit union volunteers represent the backbone of the credit union industry which is the members.\u00a0 We are blessed with volunteers who have their own unique background, career, and talents and this program aims to bring to those assets to bear in advancing credit unions at the local, state and federal levels\u201d said Scott Sullivan, President\/CEO of the League.<\/p>\n
The League is encouraging any credit union volunteer who is interested in learning more about how they can get more involved in advocacy to review the AVA Brochure<\/a> and enroll by completing the form found on the brochure.\u00a0 \u201cWhether you want to simply get monthly advocacy updates or whether you want to take part in lobbying a lawmaker on credit union issues, the AVA needs you\u201d said Sullivan.\u00a0 Credit union volunteers that enroll in the AVA decide the level of involvement that they wish to have.\u00a0 At the very minimum, AVA members will receive a monthly update that they can share with their fellow board members at the monthly board meetings.\u00a0 Those that wish to be more involved can indicate their desired level of involvement when enrolling.\u00a0 In addition to a monthly update, the League will be planning volunteer advocacy trainings, lawmaker and candidate visits, notices on lawmaker townhall\u2019s and much more.<\/p>\n
