The Nebraska Credit Union League hosted its Capitol Club Classic golf outing on May 9th at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Nebraska.  The proceeds from the outing benefit Nebraska’s credit union defense fund known as the Nebraska Credit Union Advocacy Fund (NCUAF).  The defense fund was created by Nebraska’s credit unions following the passage of H.R. 1151, the Credit Union Membership Access Act in 1998 to help fund advocacy efforts.  “The defense fund allows us to respond very quickly to bank attacks” said Brandon Luetkenhaus, chief advocacy officer of the Nebraska Credit Union League.  He cited recent Iowa banker attack ads that bled into eastern Nebraska media markets which the League and CUNA responded to with a month-long radio campaign focusing on a positive message about the credit union difference.

There were over twenty sponsors and fifty-four golfers who participated in the outing.  CUNA Mutual Group sponsored the dinner following the outing.  The first flight winners shot 12 under par, the second flight winners shot 5 under par and the third flight winners shot 2 under par.  The Annual Meeting golf outing which will be held on June 11th at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln, Nebraska will also benefit the NCUAF.  Contact Brandon Luetkenhaus at 402-333-9331 ext. 201 or at brandon@nebrcul.org if you’d like to participate in the Annual Meeting golf outing.
