CUFN Sponsors Middle School Concert

On Tuesday, March 20th, the CUFN was the proud sponsor of a financial literacy concert and Omaha Westside Middle School.  The auditorium packed in 500 7th graders to listen to Carter Hulsey and Me With Bees band rock out and offer some financial tips.  Carter and the band partner with Funding the Future, which provides financial literacy concerts across America.

“The Credit Union Foundation of Nebraska follows a mission that encourages credit unions to build member financial soundness through community projects as well as provide education about their products and services.  Sponsoring this type of event is something we see as important for the future – young people becoming financially smart and savvy credit union members,” said Amy Shaw, Chief Initiatives Officer.

After completing their song set, the band offered some financial advice as well as answered questions from the students. The Nebraska Council on Economic Education sets up these concerts throughout Nebraska and gives local companies the chance to sponsor the events.  News Channel WOWT 6 was also on hand to check out this fabulous financial event!
