Join Callahan & Associates; Lee Strickhouser, chief lending officer for Resource One; and Brett Beckham, inside sales manager for Leaders for a discussion on the structures and best practices of the two credit unions’ relationship-based pricing programs.
The rationale for relationship rewards vary from institution to institution, but the idea remains the same: the more they give, the more they get.
Resource One Credit Union in Dallas, TX, offers more aggressive pricing for longer-term, loyal members. The $454.5 million credit union gives members a discount of 50 to 100 basis points, depending on membership length. And Resource One is considering relationship-based pricing on auto loans as well as new checking accounts.
At Leaders Credit Union in Jackson, TN, indirect lending is big business and brings in a large number of new members. That’s why in February 2014, the $296.0 million cooperative introduced its Perks program for members who start their relationship through an indirect loan.
