It’s Official!

Kansas Corporate and Missouri Corporate legally merged July 1, 2015, but there was still much work to be done in the 30 days that followed. Operationally, the two corporate credit unions merged, August 1st, with new members going live on coreCONNECT and conducting business as Kansas Corporate members, August 3rd

An idea that had been percolating for some time (as great ideas do), the merger between the two like-minded, service-oriented organizations, became more than a pipe dream last winter when state regulators gave their ‘okay’ to the merger. NCUA approval was granted at the regulator’s May 2015 meeting but plans and progress had been ongoing since talks began last fall.

Member training, system testing, and merger preparedness activities filled the spring and summer months, to ensure a smooth transition for our new members and staff. Did we mention the addition of a St. Louis office staffed with knowledgeable, friendly, well-seasoned staff? I hope so, as we’re delighted to welcome them aboard, as well as our new members. I’m confident that by now you’ve had the pleasure of working with some of them, and you probably didn’t even know they were in Missouri. Telephone inquiries ring to available Account Specialist staff, regardless of their location – here on the home front, in Montana, and now, Missouri!

In August, we welcomed our new Missouri volunteers to Kansas Corporate with an in-person board meeting and volunteer dinner. Seven new faces and perspectives, in total – four new Board members, one new Asset/Liability Committee member, one Credit Committee member, and a Supervisory Committee member. We now have governance representation from KS, NE, MT, and MO – I’d call that well-rounded.

What’s next, you ask? A new identity. One more reflective of our growing membership. Request for Proposals (RFPs) were recently sent seeking a partner for the endeavor we hope will bear fruit, even in the winter time. By year-end, we hope to have chosen a new name and be working towards a new brand. What do grocery store products state when the packaging has changed but they want you to know it’s the same tried and true product you’ve come to trust and love? New Look – Same Great Flavor! That’s us, same great service and commitment, in a brand new wrapper.

Stay tuned for more!
