FHLBank’s Affordable Housing Program

Twenty-five years ago, the FHLBank System started a program that would change tens of thousands of lives across the country.

The Affordable Housing Program (AHP) requires each FHLBank to contribute 10% of its net income to affordable housing initiatives. Since 1990, FHLBank Topeka has awarded more than $210 million in grants to help ensure families and individuals have a safe, affordable place to call home.

In the past 25 years, Nebraska member institutions have been awarded $39 million through AHP. The money has been used for 171 projects, resulting in 6,532 units. Nebraska has more families helped by the Homeownership Set-aside Program (HSP) grants than any other state in our district. More than 4,200 HSP grants have helped to provide closing costs and down payment assistance for future homeowners.

For more information about AHP or any FHLBank product or service, please contact your regional account manager Mark Woita at 402.740.9911 or Kelly Malone at 877.893.3452.
