Award-winning organization ready to host youth-focused CU professionals

Credit union professionals who understand the importance of youth-based services and financial education will gather July 25-28 at the National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB) 2011 Annual Conference at the Pittsburgh (Pa.) Marriott City Center. Challenging participants to “Up Your Youth”, the event is a focused effort to support participants, youth outreach and help lower credit unions’ average member age.

NYIB, winner of the 2011 Herb Wegner Award for Outstanding Organization, has assembled a diverse agenda headlined by: David Southall, CEO of Innovations CU and flash-mob expert; Denise Wymore, prominent creative strategist; Rui Domingos, CEO of CPCU Credit Union; and Maya Bourdeau, president of the psychology-based marketing firm Attune.

Former UNC-Chapel Hill Professor Jane Hight McMurray leads an optional pre-conference workshop on Monday, relating methods for communication with youth with “Listen, Do You Want to Know a Secret?” Southall opens the conference that afternoon with “How Do You Lower the Average Age of Your Membership? Up Your Youth!” Then Wymore then sets the stage for the days ahead, featuring a customizable combination of general sessions and breakouts that include:

  • The 2020 Vision of Marketing: A Focus on Purpose
  • Powering Your Credit Union’s Strategic Plan by Leveraging Community Partnerships
  • Financial Football
  • Student-Run Branches
  • Technology Super-Session: “Virtual Classrooms” and “Making the NYIB Website Work for You”
  • The Power of Reflection: Bridging the Generational Gap Requires an Open Mind and a Mirror
  • Pay It Forward with Your Best Practice and Have a Minute to Win It
  • A Deep Dive into the Psychology of Today’s Youth
  • 17 Classroom Strategies to Break Through to Kids
  • Powering Your Credit Union’s Strategic Plan by Leveraging Community Partnerships
  • PanelPalooza! The Hottest Trends in Reaching and Teaching Youth
  • Plus a “hot topic” breakout, regional caucuses, and election of northern regional coordinators

The NYIB Annual Conference educates and motivates credit union marketers, financial educators, and like-minded leaders. Organizations sending more than one participant save $100 for each additional person. Go online to see full session descriptions, the agenda, and online registration.

Reservations at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center are available at the event rate of $139 through Friday, July 1 by calling 800-627-7468 or 412-471-4000 and mentioning “NYIB”. After July 1, rooms will be offered at the conference rate as space allows.

The National Youth Involvement Board’s mission is “Helping today’s youth become financially savvy individuals and loyal credit union members.”
