NE CU’s Receive Awards for Outstanding Fundraising

During its Annual Meeting and Conference, the Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) recognized several Nebraska credit unions for their outstanding achievements in fundraising for Nebraska’s credit union political action committee, called NCULPAC, in 2015.  The awards were presented during Thursday night’s banquet at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Membership Supports Bylaw Amendments

Members of the League voted in favor of a set of bylaw amendments brought forth by the Board of Directors at the June 2nd Annual Membership Meeting.

The proposed NCUL bylaw amendments were precipitated by action taken by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Board of Directors. And, the subsequent approval of CUNA’s restated Bylaws by the membership. The restatement, in part, provided for membership optionality. Credit unions are no longer bound to belong to both CUNA and a state League. Credit unions have the choice of joining the League, CUNA or both.  The NCUL bylaw amendments were drafted to reflect the CUNA change, as well as, other changes occurring in the marketplace. {Read The Full Article}

Early Look at Payday Rule Shows Important Reforms, Concerns

Credit Union National Association’s initial analysis of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s small-dollar proposed rule found some important reforms to predatory lending, but consumer-friendly credit union products appear to be swept in as well.

CFPB Director Richard Corday praised the credit union lending model during the bureau’s field hearing Thursday, and has told CUNA to inform the bureau about credit union products that are affected by the rule.

Nebraska CU Leader Honored with Hal Allen Legislative Leadership Award

The Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) presented the Hal Allen Legislative Leadership Award to retired Peoples Choice FCU (now LincOne FCU) President/CEO Dale Springer.  Dale is the fourth Nebraska credit union advocate to receive the state’s top legislative award. CO-OP Announces Todd Clark as New President/CEO of CO-OP Financial Services
