President Obama Signs CU Reg Relief

On December 4th, President Obama signed into law three regulatory relief bills that credit unions have lobbied Congress to pass for several years. The bills were contained within the $305 billion highway funding transportation bill. The bill that was signed contained the modernization of privacy notification requirements, allowing privately insured credit unions to join the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB), and directs the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to establish a process for determining whether an area should be designated as rural. {Read The Full Article}

We mailed 1566 Santa Letters this December!  Our elves made sure every letter was stamped and sent out the door.  Little, and even some big, kids should be receiving them soon.

If you have any members asking where they are, please let them know when they were sent and that it will be in the hands of the post offices as to when they arrive.  If they do not receive one, the options are to have us re-send it or you can refund the member.

Kearney Federal Credit Union Announces New Name “Trius Federal Credit Union”

Kearney Federal Credit Union announced our new name at a celebration held on Thursday, December 3rd. President Dee Schriner said the new name “Trius,” will appeal to a broader audience and position the credit union for future growth. The name while abstract creates a sense of familiarity without being specific. The “Tri” prefix creates a sense of qualities and places joined. Department Releases Garnishment Summons Form

The Nebraska Department of Banking and Finance (NDB&F) announced the adoption of its new form “Service of Garnishment Summons Designation Form”. Financial institutions operating in Nebraska must designate a location for the service of garnishment summons. Department Announces Adds “S” to CAMEL

The Nebraska Department of Banking & Finance (NDB&F) announced in a letter to Nebraska state chartered credit unions and the Nebraska Credit Union League (NCUL) that it would begin assessing “Sensitivity to Market Risk” with its own component rating “S”. CFPB issues compliance bulletin on automatic debits

CUNA Bylaw Modernization

The Credit Union National Association announced that it would be modernizing their association bylaws. One of the anticipated changes is to accommodate choice in CUNA’s membership structure regarding dual membership in CUNA and Leagues. The CUNA Board has tasked the Corporate Governance Committee with drafting new bylaws to reflect governance changes. YPCU Delivers Warmth to Area Shelter

During the months of November and December, the Young Professionals for Credit Unions (YPCU) collected warm clothing at the chapter meetings for a local shelter. The YPCU dropped off around 200 items including coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves. THANK YOU to everyone that donated. The YPCU greatly appreciated it, as did the Siena/Francis House!
