Voters Seek a Change in Leadership

Nebraska voters went to the polls on November 4th and cast their votes in multiple key races at the local, state, and federal levels.  Nebraska voters chose Ben Sasse for the open U.S. Senate seat, Pete Ricketts to be their next Governor, and the voters in Congressional District 2 chose Brad Ashford over incumbent Congressman Lee Terry.  Congressman-Elect Ashford will be the first Democrat elected to the seat since Democrat Congressman Peter Hoagland was defeated in 1994.  Congressmen Jeff Fortenberry of District 1 and Congressman Adrian Smith of District 3 were easily re-elected by voters in their respective districts.  In addition to the federal races, there were seventeen (17) open seats in the State Legislature, and several open seats in the Constitutional offices including Governor, Attorney General, and Auditor.
