Fees and Funds: Not the Only Measure of Good 401(k) Plans

As you’re researching the best 401(k) plans to offer your employees, it’s prudent to carefully examine the fees involved and the variety of fund choices. But this is a notoriously difficult product to assess with an apples-to-apples comparison.

You can compare some administrative fees among plan providers, but your participants’ requests and choices trigger other types of fees. CO-OP Network Access

We read it in surveys time and again. The number one thing members look for in a financial institution is convenience. But offering convenience is expensive. How can a credit union compete in today’s marketplace?

Take ATM access for example. A study by Raddon Financial Group in Spring of 2013 shows that nearly half of all consumers use ATMs located at their primary institution’s branch locations, while only 12% use a foreign ATM. We believe that one reason is that consumers prefer not to pay fees to access their own money. For customers of the largest banks, this isn’t an issue. Wells Fargo has about 12,000 ATMs nationwide.  Bank of America has around 16,200. And Chase Bank has over 18,000 ATMs. How is any credit union supposed to compete with that? {Read The Full Article}
