CFPB is Making the News: Be ready to Answer Member Questions

PolicyWorks Compliance Officer

Small Business Owners Tell Senate to Increase CU Business Lending Cap

April 12, 2012 – A group of Omaha small business owners met with U.S. Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) to urge his support for an increase in the cap on credit union small business lending.  S. 2231 introduced by Senator Mark Udall (D-CO) would increase the cap on the amount of loans that credit unions can make to small businesses.  The current cap is 12.25% of a credit union’s total assets.  S. 2231 would increase that cap to 27.5% of a credit union’s total assets.  Prior to 1998, there was no cap on the amount of small business loans that a credit union could make to their members. {Read The Full Article}
